Powerful synth plug-in born from mistaken identity. Sawer pays homage to the envelopes and filters of a rare 1980s Soviet analog synthesizer. As Sawer is algorithmic, it solves the problems of tuning and stability, however, in the same way electrical component instability makes analog gear unique (if not cranky), Sawer benefits from the 21st century equivalent, a coding error. While programming the SAW oscillator, some incorrect variables were accidentally set and immediately the sound gained bass, acquired some light but pleasing noise on the attack and an overall richer sonic spectra. First, take your time during installation. I have installed at least 100 virtual instruments and effects. I know it can be frustrating.
I have found this to be true with many companies whose products I love (i.e. Native Instruments, Waves, Arturia, Antares, etc.). Usually once you get the products installed you scratch your head and wonder why you didn't do that the first time. To me, Image-Line, isn't that difficult, but then I have at least ten of their products so it should be easy for me by now. Now, about this product, Sawer, is as good a virtual analog synthesizer as there is. I own all of Arturia's virtual analog synths, and while I love them, especially the Modular V, this one is at least as good as any of them. The User Interface on this one couldn't be set up any easier, the arpeggiator is one of best there is.
The preset browser is awesome and easy. Most importantly, this thing has phenomenal sound. The price that this thing is selling for on here? Just buy it, its about the biggest steal you will find. This package has some really nice lead and pad presets that give a true 'synth' sound. I've downloaded dozens of free VSTs on the internet, but they all seem designed to produce EDM, not be used as an actual instrument. Unlike some others who have reviewed it here, I had no installation problems, and there are plenty of presets to keep you busy.
